About the SASHA Coalition
What is the SASHA Coalition?
The SASHA Coalition is an alliance of leading companies across the shipping and aviation value chains uniting to accelerate these sectors’ transitions to zero emission solutions.
As a collective, we advocate for policy supporting the most sustainable battery-electric and renewable hydrogen energy solutions.
We work collaboratively policymakers in the UK and EU to help develop and commercialise these solutions at the pace the climate crisis requires.
The coalition is facilitated by climate NGO Opportunity Green.
Our aims
We are united behind a call for policies and regulations that
Accelerate the development and commercialisation of e-fuels, zero carbon emission technologies, and direct air capture (DAC) in the EU and UK.
Ensure renewable hydrogen is prioritised for hard-to-abate like aviation and maritime.
Phase out fossil fuels and non-sustainable energy sources.
Why now?
Technological advances and industrial momentum for renewable hydrogen and zero-carbon emission technologies are growing rapidly. However, current policies do not sufficiently support the uptake of these technologies in the shipping and aviation sectors.
Decisions taken in the coming years will determine how aviation and shipping can credibly meet 2050 net zero emissions targets. The SASHA Coalition is needed now to ensure that policymakers hear directly from the pioneering companies building the solutions for long-term decarbonisation, and not just industry incumbents who want to maintain the status quo, to be able to create the regulatory conditions for them to succeed at scale.
What does the SASHA Coalition do?
To achieve our aims We:
Uniting leading aviation and shipping innovators to build a powerful collective voice.
Devising policy recommendations that would support innovative companies’ businesses by drawing on our members’ expertise and experience.
Advocating for policy to support companies developing the most sustainable shipping and aviation technologies by meeting EU and UK policymakers, contributing to policy processes, and hosting events.
Communicating the solutions that our members develop, and how they offer the only credible pathways to net zero shipping and aviation, through media outreach and public interventions.
